Seeking is the First Step

About six months ago or so, I noticed that the Holy Spirit was leading me to the scripture Isaiah 60:22.  At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22, NLT Initially, I read this verse as confirmation that the next steps in my career were coming soon. And then I startedContinue reading “Seeking is the First Step”

Feel the Burn

Some personal trainers say that when lifting weights, it’s important to “feel the burn.” For muscle growth and increasing strength, it’s important to push yourself beyond your comfort level by adding a few more pounds to the bar or doing an extra set. If you’ve ever worked out intensely, then you know, this brings aContinue reading “Feel the Burn”

The Power of Testimony

There are many things that I know to be true about myself. I know where I excel and the creative things that come naturally. There are other things that I know about myself – where I stumble and struggle – the move too fast, speak too fast, do too much.  I know the reality that someoneContinue reading “The Power of Testimony”

Who Holds Your Mirror?

Let’s visualize for a moment each of us are standing in front of a mirror. Since we are made in His image, God is holding each mirror. When we sin it’s like streaks on a mirror. You know the ones – they are stubborn, you can’t quite see any clear image because they are in the way. They take a little more work to wipe away. You may think it’s gone but then you look from a different angle and see the same imperfection or a new one comes seemingly from nowhere.

Thank you God for Your grace

Gracious Lord, As born again believers, You call us to examine ourselves. And right now I confess there are things and ways that I have not honored You. In my family, on my job, with my friends, in all my roles and responsibilities I want to honor You, God. I know there are specific behaviorsContinue reading “Thank you God for Your grace”

Stop (fill in the blank) & Start Following Jesus

The truth is the thing or things you and I know we need to stop may be something we continue to battle. And the truth is that God does not love us any less.

Slow Down

I took this picture recently in Saugatuck, Michigan. I had a morning to enjoy time at the lake with friends. We read a devotional that reminded us of the benefit of choosing biblical wisdom in all things. Such a beautiful reminder. But being wise is more than just changing your actions. There has to beContinue reading “Slow Down”

A Prayer for Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5 ESV Lord, so often my desire is to fix problems on my own. I get frustrated when I can’t figure things out. I’m frustrated because I’m living outside of Your intentions forContinue reading “A Prayer for Wisdom”

Waiting in Wisdom

The other day I was sitting in my living room journaling. As I was thinking and praying about my relationship with the Lord, I wrote, “Lord make me more like You.” As I continually look at the chasm between where I am spiritually and God’s standard, this is the desire of my heart. I askedContinue reading “Waiting in Wisdom”

A Prayer of Direction

There are many dreams and goals that I have and Lord I truly want to please you in every decision made. Father God, help me to stay focusedContinue reading “A Prayer of Direction”
