A Prayer for Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

James 1:5 ESV

Lord, so often my desire is to fix problems on my own. I get frustrated when I can’t figure things out. I’m frustrated because I’m living outside of Your intentions for me. God, help me to see life from the heavenly vantage point.

Your Holy Word is clear that hardships are a reason for joy. I don’t always see life that way, but it is true. You place trials in my life for a reason.

You place me in hard situations for an intended purpose. The adversity in my life should spur me to seek You; to seek You in steadfast and fervent prayer.

Jesus, I repent and ask Your forgiveness for all the times that I’ve trusted in my own counsel and ignored You. Forgive me for thinking I didn’t need You and trusting in myself. I need You Jesus.

I need You to walk with me in dealing with guilt, shame, hard relationships, grief, difficult decisions, and the ups and downs of every day life. I have joy knowing that You have promised that if I ask for wisdom, then it will be provided. As I wait for a change or further direction, help me to be continual and fervent in prayer. My situation may or may not change, but I am certain that You will work in my own heart.

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

James 1:6-8 ESV

Change my focus from outward to inward, Lord. Heavenly Father, what are You wanting to change in me?

Trust God. Seek Him. Be Affirmed in Christ.
