Resolving to Rely on Jesus

It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in man.

Psalm 118:8, ESV

We are all fellow sinners – and as the verse suggests, man and woman will let us down.

It is far better to trust God, our sinless and blameless Heavenly Father, with each day, with each situation, through friendships and relationships.

As born-again Christians, we are called to trust God and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

A great way to do that is to turn to God’s word in every circumstance. The Holy Bible has instructions for everything we experience in life:

  • Grief: Psalm 147:3; Psalm 34:18
  • Wrongly accused: Matthew 5:11-12; Isaiah 54:17
  • Need to correct: Matthew 18:15-17; Titus 3:9-11
  • Day to day: Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 2:8-10

We must recognize that as we continue to grow in our understanding, the good news is still the same. And we should be excited about this!

Jesus is the same always and His Word is unchanging!

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever

Hebrews 13:8, ESV

As we countdown to the New Year, let’s make our first resolution for 2022 together.

It is the only resolution we need. It is the only one that, if we keep, brings the greatest peace and satisfaction:

I will trust God in all circumstances.

Trust God. Seek Him. Be Affirmed in Christ.
